Scrappy colour bursts

I hope this qualifies as being cosy and comforting enough to be part of ThriftyHousehold and Silverpebble's Making Winter series!

I don't know about where you are, but here it is grey and soggy and VERY January. Bleurgh.

So when I saw some brightly coloured scrap cushions on AmandaJean's blog, I could do nothing else until I had made them for my girls. Ignore all the other things I have on the go and the parcels I STILL haven't posted (sorry ladies!), I actually managed to start and finish a project in one afternoon. Wheeee!



 I am faintly ashamed that I didn't need to buy anything at all to complete this - please tell me I'm not the only one who has unused cushion pads kicking around - but then that means I'm stash busting, which is a Good Thing. Right?


And lest you should think I live in a twinkly, colourful, fairy lit interiors magazine home, here's the reality only 2 feet away.

  1. The colours! They're like dolly mixtures. There's nothing much cosier than cushions and blankets. You and Julie have sorted us out for cosiness today I think.

  5. Very pretty. I was just thinking "oh how lovely with the sparkly fairy lights, not like my almost 9 year old's dumping ground"! Thanks for keeping it real!

  14. They're gorgeous :D Love the reality shot ... I have a similar problem, Longest-Gap-Year-Ever son's room gets the best light for indoor photography but should have hazard warnings on the door, taking pics in there is far too likely to lead to toxic waste appearing in shot!

  20. I'm in love with your pretty pillows. I have 2 old pillows that need recycling and lots of fabric in a box behind the sofa, I think I might make something along these lines. Thanks for sharing :-)

  22. Well, the weather's in the 80s, I had to find my sandals to wear as my feet were too hot, the sky is blue, the sun is shining... I'm getting no sympathy from my family when I say that I miss proper January weather...

    Those cushions are gorgeous! Plus even the reality pic looks tidier a couple of rooms in this house do at present. I'd better go and do some picking up...

  24. You're inspiring me to ignore what I'm meant to be doing (hang on, I'm already doing that) and break into my fabric stash. If it makes you feel any better, I wouldn't need any extra supplies to make several cushions. Yeh for stash busting!
