Today was such a day. I didn't help myself by skimming Country Homes and Interiors at breakfast. I tried walking with friends from the playground after school dropoff. I tried looking at flowers. I tried halfheartedly shifting piles of stuff around the living room in an attempt to start sorting it out (let's face it, what it needs is a giant skip and for no one to actually live in it for a while).
And then I thought, "This is not working. I am feeling worse."
And THEN I thought "I need to make something. Now."
And so I found some beads and some silver wire and I did.

And I felt about a million times better and I am going to wear it all day and probably all day tomorrow too. And smile to myself.

The inspiration came from this lovely book. And now I need more wire.

It is stunning and so glad it made you feel better. I have lots of those sort of days!
ReplyDeleteCraft-therapy - works for me every time. Lovely brooch, Val.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that's adorable Ms. Dotty! Nothing better than a little crafty time making tings!
ReplyDeleteIt's great when something so pretty and quick can cheer you up. It's a lovely brooch.
ReplyDeleteAlso - I'm amazed that you have silver wire to hand. I'd like to live at your house.
Oh, a beautiful brooch! It reminds me of those brilliant bead threading frames the children had when they were small. I loved them as much as they did!
ReplyDeleteA spot of creativity is a great mood lifter. I try to fit in a bit of sewing, knitting or crochet during nap time, a few moments of peace can make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteLovely brooch!
Ooh clever you, it's lovely, that brooch would make me feel better too!
ReplyDeleteYes I recognise that sort of day.
ReplyDeleteThe brooch is lovely - so hard to find chunky pins that stab through chunky jumpers and scarves - and that's just right!

ReplyDeleteI too, have days where I just have to make something. Actually, my family seems to know this about me and will direct me towards my creative space when I seem "out of sorts". I'm told, "Go make something, Mum. You'll feel better." Too true. ;o)
Love your beautiful pin Dotty! And isn't it so true that making something can be such good therapy. I don't know how I survived the ups and downs of life before I began knitting. Oh wait, I do remember -- wine ;).
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
GG
That is so beautiful. I would wear that every day if I bought it let alone if I made it.
