Repurposing

Lina sent out a repurposing challenge a week or two ago. These days I am frequently to be seen rummaging in the sheet section of Oxfam, and so I give you:

Yesterday this was a tablecloth. It's a bit lower cut for a tiddler than I would have hoped but she likes it and it cost me 99p so I can't really complain! This is part of Simplicity's Hannah Montana range - I know.

Now, the real question is, do you think I could get away with making myself a dress out of the Barbie sheet that's been languishing on the shop rail for the last three weeks?!

  1. Yes!! DO IT!!! And then post photos of the result. Maybe it would inspire me to create a Bob the Builder garment for myself.

  4. I've been amazed by the repurposing that's been going on - so so clever - one of the best types of recycling I reckon. What a brilliant little dress for one of the smalls.

I could definitely see you sporting a little Barbie number. Especially Barbie Fairytopia. Special!

  5. I'm all for embracing ones inner Barbie, but perhaps not wearing it outdoors!
Great job on the yellow one though.

  6. Those Hannah Montana patterns are really HARD! Or was I being particularly dense? Whatever, b/c I want to see you modelling Hannah Montana a la Barbie.

  10. What a ray of sunshine, a perfect summer dress - lovely! We're fighting off Hannah Montanna here, (um, not literally) but it seems that its almost inevitable. I think you could pull off a barbie dress - check out this one on flickr for some inspiration!

  12. These women who are encouraging you to make a Barbie dress are evil and are merely wanting to have a laugh at your expense. Evil I tell ya!

I, dear kind Aussie that I am, say NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  13. I definitely think you can! Go for it :o) If anything, it could be practice, and you could make the dress again on nicer fabric. Very cute yellow dress, too.

  14. That's a lovely 'make'!

Yes please! I'd love to see a dress made out of the Barbie sheet - and then I'd dare you to actually wear it out. :-p x

  15. Love the tablecloth dress - that's great. But Barbie .... ? I don't think, even if I was brave enough that my children would be seen out with me. Now, I've a 'Winnie the Pooh' sheet upstairs all little honey pots and bees - what do think?

  19. I can see the Barbie fabric as a 50's stylee fitted strappy sundress....or not!

Maybe use it to line bags instead?

I love the little tablecloth dress :)

  22. I think there are far too many of us out there that might die for a dress made from a barbie sheet ;-) Am so amazed you got the tablecloth for 99p - what a bargain!
