Coming out of hibernation

The weather and the festivities kept us inside over Christmas and Boxing Day , but now it's time to venture outside and try to walk off some of the roast potatoes. We took a flask of tea and some brownies to the bird reserve on the edge of our village and fished with sticks on our way to the big hide that looks out over the reedbed.

Obviously we didn't see many birds, walking with two loud galumphers, but we saw a bridge being renovated,

and we saw some huge skies, and , as usual, vowed that we should come back more frequently. It is a wonderful place.

Returning home, it was time to write Thank you letters.

How come everyone here receives presents but only one of us ever writes the letters? OK, at least two of them can't write very well, so I suppose I should just be grateful they sign their own names ...

  1. My No.1 is now big enough to design her own 'thank yous' on the computer - hooray and hurrah! I still have to write most of them for No.2 though :-(

    Beautiful photos. x

  3. I know that hibernating feeling well - we did the same thing and went for a walk this week with Dylan's new Noclars (as he calls them). I ended up carrying them after 5 mins but at least we all ended up in the pub!! I love the thank you letters - just thinking about getting round to it too - well done!

  4. Hmm, yes, thank you letters. Well we haven't started those yet either - but to be fair we only got home late last night and have spent today trying to find the house under all the bags, boxes, cases etc! Maybe tomorrow.......................!

  5. We came out of hibernation today aswell, we decided to go on a long walk with my daughters new bike we managed to get about 1/2 a mile away and she was shattered so we turned back! I know what you mean about writing thank you letters I seem to be the only one who writes letters in our house too!

  6. the walk looks lovely!
I printed some "fill the blanks" thankyous for Miss K and E to write, anyone recieving E's version will have absolutely no idea what they say, due to the creative spelling, and the fact that he was in a huge rush to get back to the star was lego, so I'm beginning to think I should have written them after all.....

  8. When is the cut-off point? I still feel responsible for MasterM's letters and he is 18...
How wonderful to have a reserve so close to your home. It must be a fabulous place to explore in the spring.

  9. Outside, fresh air! That's exactly how I feel this time of year. You need to get outside to blow the cobwebs away. I feel like we've been indoors forever!
